| Nibantai - Squad Two
The Stealth Force and Onmitsukidō You're always being watched It is the job of the Second Division to conduct secret and covert operations that other Squads aren't custom to. The Second Division is made up of trained assassins who work primarily in the shadows, going about their business in utmost secrecy. The Second Squad functions similarly to the Sixth, Tenth and Eleventh Divisions in that it combined Seireitei Law with deadly combat, though where Squads Six, Ten and Eleven can't go, the Second Division will and must. Members of the Second Division are not only expected to, but are required to devote every waking breath to the cause of the Division and to listen to orders without regard for their own opinions. Assassins are tools of war to be used at their master's whim to further their ambition and ability. One cannot fear death, and one cannot fear killing. To abandon a comrade for the sake of a mission is expected. Members of the Second Division are puppets. They are tools. They are cold hearted killers. Every member of the Second Division is a member of the Onmitsukidō and are thus expected to be efficient at their craft: killing. Rumor has it that somewhere within the Seireitei exists an extensive underground prison used to detain deadly and high risk individuals; none can be sure. Captains of the Second Division know the exact location, as it is the custom to blindfold any and all who come and go, including the Captain's own subordinates. For that reason, it is the Captain's duty to make weekly trips to and from the Nest, relieving subordinates from their post and allowing a new batch to take over. This place is known as the Nest of Maggots. Those who guard within are not permitted to carry their Zanpakutō within its walls for risk of an inmate obtaining a weapon. The very walls in which prisoners are held are crafted out of Sekki-seki, an ancient stone which absorbs the powers of Reishi, Reiatsu and Reiryoku indiscriminately, effectively robbing those who are within and around of what makes them special: their otherworldly abilities and strengths. When being transported, inmates are cuffed with Sekki-seki handcuffs, tightly placed around their wrists, blocking the flow of their Reiryoku. All inmates are searched thoroughly when entering and exiting the Nest of Maggots to ensure nothing is being smuggled in; in the event of a smuggle in or out, the transgressor and who they are working for - if discovered - are put to death without hesitation. | |

| Commander-in-Chief of the Onmitsukido / Captain of the Second Division Ichigenka Shuken It is the Captain's duty to oversee the well being of the Division and command the Onmitsukidō in combat when necessary. The Captain is the highest ranking member of both the Onmitsukidō and the Second Division, and as such, the two titles are interchangeable. Only the Captain of the Second Division is the Commander-in-Chief of the Onmitsukidō and vice versa. As such, the Onmitsukidō, and thus the Second Division, are only loyal to their Captain and Commander, with the obvious inclusion of the Gotei Thirteen's Captain Commander. It is against protocol for the Captain of the Second Division to draw his or her blade unless they are devoted to the death of their opponent. Lieutenant of the Second Division Vacant It is the Lieutenant's duty to do as the Captain does and oversee the well being of the Second Division and Onmitsukidō. However, unlike most other Divisions, the Lieutenant does not take over the duties of the Captain if the Captain is present. Instead, the Lieutenant of the Second Division serves as a close ally to the Captain; sort of like an adviser. The Lieutenant of the Second Division thus does not hold any more power over other members of the Second Division, unlike the customs of the other Divisions. Seated Members Vacant The Seated Members of the Second Division serve merely as foot soldiers. Their rank does not represent political power within the Division, but skill. The more powerful and a member of the Second Division is, the higher ranked they will be. They are expected to carry out whatever order the Captain and Commander-in-Chief issue without complaint and without failure. | |
